Contest Participation
This is the competitive side of the Ham Radio Hobby. Some take it seriously, some just want to participate, and I'm one of those most of times! The purpose is to make the most of your station, working lots of stations in short QSO's that use to include the callsign and report (59 001, 59 002, 59 003 and so on). In VHF/UHF the grid locator must be exchanged too, as the points depend on the distance between the stations. In HF the rules are a bit different and each contest have their own - for example, one station means 1 point, and the total is the sum of the total stations worked X number of DXCC countries X number of continents. Sometimes the log must be submitted in special formats, like cabrillo.
As I don't have much time for these activities (usually these contests last 24h), I just take part on them ocasionally. Here you have them listed:
